Services for the Legal Profession

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, (see About Us) the history of the partners of lawcol-one is such that they are particularly well placed to provide an extensive array of services for the legal profession.

There are any number of situations that may arise where we can help out very effectively.

Examples might include:

  • Those times when individual cases have become more demanding than usual;
  • Where certain aspects of a case need to be undertaken with urgency;
  • When the caseload of a team or an individual may, perhaps temporarily, have become excessive;
  • Situations where because of holidays, illness or some other unforeseen circumstance, some case aspects must still be dealt with;
  • Where the employment of a locum would prove too cumbersome a solution and not be cost effective;
  • Where the employment of a locum would prove impractical in terms of having to physically accommodate them at a desk but where the desk space is not available.

Here are some examples of how we do it:

  • Taking and preparing detailed statements cost effectively.

These may or may not be complex in nature. Where simple statements are concerned then, depending upon client preference, it may not be necessary for us to physically attend to interview the witness or client concerned. Such statements can often be taken quickly and effectively over the phone (after the making of a telephone appointment). As mentioned elsewhere, notes are typed contemporaneously. These are then either provided in that form if that is sufficient or we are able to draft formal statements for use in proceedings.

Complex statements may often be dealt with in the same way. If they are likely to be of considerable length, then either more than one phone appointment or a personal visit may be necessary.

  • Drafting documents; anything from complex letters to instructions to counsel.
  • Attendances at conferences with counsel; noting and submitting detailed report.
  • Preparation of detailed disclosure lists.
  • Preparation, assistance and/or attendance in connection with mediation.
  • Provision of temporary residential conveyancing assistance in Norfolk, Ipswich, Cambridge and London. (Because of its very nature, this work is provided on a locum basis).
